This project was very challenging. I really enjoyed the process, it definitely would take some getting used to though. Something I am happy with is the form itself, it leads viewers to look at all sides. I am not as happy with is the texture or color. I had a hard time with my plaster, it took nearly three days to dry! I should have sanded more and picked a different color scheme, so that there would be more contrast.

I love the texture and color! I think it looks really dope! I think you followed the guidelines well, and made something really cool, despite the trouble with plaster. I wish I could see it in person to look around it and follow the lines. It's really cool to look at- I could see this as a large instantiation in a park. All in all, very successful!
ReplyDeleteI really like how the texture is on the inside of the form. It makes me was to look at both the inside and outside. I think if you make the texture parts a darker color it would at more depth. Overall really great work!
ReplyDeleteThis piece has great texture especially on the inside of the sculpture. The sculpture creates lines that carry the viewers eyes around it and forms unity. The piece has negative space throughout where you can see the opposite side. the darker texture really adds depth to the piece.
ReplyDeleteHi, Reagan! I agree with Jaden that this could be a large outdoor installation – it is very visually interesting from all perspectives. Your implementation of beaded texture within the interior elements of your form is successful and creates a sense of visual depth. To heighten that depth, I believe a deeper color would be helpful. I know you said you should have sanded more, but I enjoy the thick plaster appearance on the exterior of the form. It ties in very well with the other elements of the form. Overall, you did a wonderful job with this assignment!
ReplyDeleteReagan, I know you really didn't like the color scheme, but I think that is the best part. I love the sprinkle texture and how it creates variation in the hue and tone of the red. Overall I think this turned out really well!
ReplyDeletereagan, i feel like the color scheme is also wonderful. but if you are looking for different colors to contrast it i would go with some blues. overall, this is a wonderful sculpture! it has a very dynamic feel to it and it reminds me of you as an artist!
ReplyDeleteThe shape is really great I would love to see it person so i could get the full effect. I think the color works well with the texture you put on it, and also the texture is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love this !! I really like the monochromatic color scheme you choose. It’s subtle and allows the form to stand on its own!
ReplyDeleteHey Reagan- I'm into the monochromatic color palette as well. The delicate texture suits the form well without overpowering it- it provides a lot of depth and contrast, pulling the eye into the interior space. The form itself feels delicate- maybe precarious?- slim lines with lots of negative space. Some of the lines seem to retain some of the squareness of the original foam block-so sharper corners, with flatter sides- the large amount of negative space keeps it from feeling overly blocky, though, so it still has a lot of visual movement.
